Following on from a jam-packed and productive 2015 - which started with the band forming, signing to BBC Radio 1 Phil Taggart’s Hometown Records, playing over 30 shows and writing a hugely strong body of work - Brighton’s Yonaka, are ready to make waves in 2016.
Last month Yonaka released their debut single ‘Ignorance’ through Hometown Records. The track debuted on Earmilk and you can stream it HERE. This follows their previous stripped rock-pop earful, ‘Run’, which was put online softly last year and garnered support from the likes of Clash and DIY, with DIY claiming it to be a “ giant opening gambit ”. Both ‘Ignorance’ and ‘Run was also part of a limited run via record lovers ‘Flying Vinyl’ in their March Issue.
Yonaka’s live shows have been cause for excitement having played four busy London club shows and a support tour with Killing Joke. The band have just completed their debut headline UK tour and will be playing a plethora of festivals this summer. Yonaka look set to truly be a band to watch.
